By now I'm hoping that you've had a good look at your life and seen what your stressors are.
The fact is you DO have some, now what can you do about it?
I have 2 different acronyms that I use to help people with Stressbusting.
We will look at one this week and the other next time.
AHA model
Acknowledge
You need to own up to it and admit that its there, you can not "fix" what you don't acknowledge.
Hold
You need to begin to embrace the stress, do not hessite, make it a part of yourself, this will help to create the changes when we need to as it is no longer external but rather an internal issue now.
Action
Once you've acknowledged the stress and are no longer fighting against it you are now ready to begin to take some positive action steps towards rising above this stress and really bust it up and out!
Some of the actions you need to consider taking are creating clear positive goals; getting a better understanding of yourself; doing affirmations; ask for help from a professional.
By doing nothing you are stealing your own happiness.
Take this AHA Model, and begin working through it.
I would love to hear how its going after you've begun implementing the model in your life.
Next time I will share a different model for becoming a Stressbuster with you.
To infinity and beyond...
The question is, were you able to look at the AHA model and implement any of it in your life?
Some of you may have found some areas more challenging than others.
Today Im going to share the Triple A Model with you. Many subscribers may find this one resonates better with them, or maybe, just maybe, you're one of those people who will benefit by using a little from each of these models, creating your own.
Triple "A" Model
Alter
Often what causes high stress is the manner that we perceive things, which is not always what the actual truth. We need to reframe and alter our perception to the issue to begin creating change.
Avoid
Look at how you can change things in your life so as to avoid being in those types of situations that cause all the stress for you from now on.
Accept
Sometimes we are in a situation that is both stressful and unavoidable. What we need to realise is that if we can accept what’s happening to us and around us and stop fighting against it, many of the small issues will be seen for the insignificance that it is and those that are not insignificant will be accepted and as soon as they are our stress levels will subside to a more manageable level.
I don't believe that theirs a single person on this planet who does not have some stress, we need to realise that stress is unavoidable, however at the same time we do have the power, if we choose, to manage it and become a stress-buster.
So when stress manifests in your life why not try using one or a combination of the models I’ve shared with you?
Next time we will look at the final model called SRA
To infinity and beyond...
Life is like a rollercoaster.
We have our ups and our downs and as much as we can say things such as "I wish life would always be easy" the truth is it isn't and can’t be.
For a moment I want you to imagine what your life would be like if you never experienced any negative things.
Now ask yourself "Self, how do I know what great things and accomplishments feel like if I have nothing to compare it to?"
If you ever meet someone who is always wonderful and everything is great you need to know that person is either lying to you or a bit deranged. At the same time a person who is always negative and down also has issues. What we need to do is find a way of coping with both ends of the continuum.
Life is like a rollercoaster!
The ups and the downs create who we are.
We all have defining moments in our lives, an event or a moment in our personal timeline where things just change, often from within.
Today, 22nd June 14 years ago I had one.
At the time it seemed to be overwhelmingly negative, however 14 years later I realise how it has had a positive impact on myself, who I am and my outlook on life.
Over the coming days I want you to take some time to look at some of the defining moments in your life, and understand how they have helped mould who you are.
Till next time;.
Even light things can be heavy!
Sometimes we wonder why we have as much stress as we do?
How often have you thought that you shouldn't be suffering from stress because nothing major has occurred in your life.
The truth is that lots of small things add up and build on itself.
There is the story about the teacher who asked the strongest looking male in the class to stand in the front with his arms outstretched. She then gave him 2 glasses of water to hold with a simple instruction. "Hold these as long as you can, don't let your hands go down."
He laughed at her as for someone of his fitness level it was nothing.
However the longer he held them the heavier they began to feel, after 20 minutes he could feel a level of discomfort, after an hour his muscles were burning, after another 15 minutes he couldn't keep his arms up any longer.
This is alot like stressful issues that we have.
The longer we choose to hold onto them the heavier they will be on us.
Next time i am going to share with you ways to let go of these issues, teaching you to take control back.
Till next time;
One of the greatest killers of our dreams is procrastination!
We are always looking for ways to "not" have to do something, after all the vast majority of us are lazy by nature.
Yes I'm sure many of you read that and thought "NO WAYS- not me" however it is true. Look at all the technology we have invented. Why? To make our lives easier. Fact!
Because we are looking for the easy way out far to often, we just don't get stuff done.I will spend the next few issues looking at ways to overcome this human trait. for although its sadly normal for most, we can do quite a lot to break through it and better ourselves.
Lets look at the 1st step today.
Ask yourself "Self what motivates me?" The more we understand what our motivation to achieve is and the stronger the desire to get what we want/need/desire the harder we will push ourselves to get there. Just like a parent who when their child is in danger from somewhere deep within finds that super strength.
What i want you to do for this week is to look within and find something or somethings (why not be greedy?) that will truly motivate you. Next week we will look at how we can use this to help us get to that next level.
Stay strong, stay focused,
I know I’m not the only one who thinks that the world is moving far too fast.
Have you realised its only 25 days to Christmas! 31 days to 2016!
WOW already, and how many of us still need to complete the resolutions we sent at the beginning of this year?
Time flies - fact.
So what can we do about it?
Well here are some steps that can help us enjoy our time and just allow our own internal clocks to tick that much slower.
There are many advantages to slowing down. Our health, both mentally and physically will improve. We know this because look how we feel after a holiday.
Taking that break just does work wonders for us.
It's said that a change is a good as a holiday (ACIAGAAH) Lets use that saying as a catalyst to improve ourselves.
Maybe you can’t afford a holiday (financially or time wise) what about making a change to your normal routine?
My son has joined Nippers, they meet at 10am on a Sunday morning at Clifton 4th beach come rain or sun. This has made a drastic change to my Sunday sleep in, especially on the bad weather days. You may think getting up early is a bad thing for a Sunday morning, it has had such a positive impact on me.
I feel so much more positive and energised, I get stuff done.
"ACIAGAAH"
So why don't you look at breaking one of your routines, make a change, it may just bring a new level of awareness to you after all ACIAGAAH
Next time we are going to look at the number one mental exercise to do to slow down. till then,
Stay strong, stay focused,
I hope that you have found some of things that really do motivate you.
I mentioned being motivated in part 1, many people have asked me how to get motivated. This leads me straight to the next point.
To become more motivated and rise above the procrastination we need to have an extremely clear understanding of the reward we are getting for completing your tasks.
The reward does not have to have anything to do with the tasks you need to complete rather a gift to yourself for completing them.
I love movies, therefore one of the things that I often do is set myself tasks, normally it is those that I "try" avoid. I make a deal with myself that I can only see that new movie once I've completed that which I'm avoiding.
I've chosen to be disciplined enough to not reward myself until its done. The truth is that I do appreciate it that much more.
At the same time, I break the tasks down into "bite size" pieces. If I have 20 tests to assess, I put them in groups of 5 and after each "set of five" is completed I get a reward, maybe a computer game or a chocolate, something I know i will enjoy.
Working this way seems to make the time move quicker.
I want you to make a list of rewards for yourself, and decide what task needs to be achieved to get them.
Stay strong, stay focused.
I know I’m not the only one who thinks that the world is moving far to fast.
